Since the publication of his first book "A Bear Called Paddington" in 1958, Michael Bond has written countless further stories about his creation from Darkest Peru.
In total, more than 150 titles have been published in a variety of formats ranging from the original novels, which appeal to all ages, right through to board books aimed at Paddington’s very youngest fans.
Many of the books have been translated and some of the stories have been published in over 40 different languages.
The first nine Paddington books to be published were all full length chapter books and each chapter in the books is a story in its own right. The series began with "A Bear Called Paddington" which was published in the UK on 13th October 1958. In 1972 Michael Bond began writing some shorter versions of the stories. With full colour illustrations on every page, these books were aimed at slightly younger readers. Since 1997 all of the picture books have been illustrated by R W Alley.Find Out More
